Grande performs four songs in pink atmosphere

Performances you missed at Grammys

This past January marked the 62nd annual Grammy award show, and it was packed with well-established artists and up-and-coming all the same. Incredible and heart-wrenching performances came one after the other. Here are some of the top performances from the night.

The night started off as Lizzo paid tribute to the late Kobe Bryant stating, “Tonight is for Kobe,” before diving into the song “Cuz I Love You.” The song was backed by an orchestra that played behind Lizzo on stage, as she gave powerful vocals and stage presence despite simply standing in one spot.

Afterward, she performed her hit song “Truth Hurts” and while continuing the use of the orchestra, put a flare on a popular single. The stage ended with a solo from Lizzo on her flute named “Sasha” and one last powerful chorus.

While taking home five awards that night, 17-year-old, Billie Eilish gave a heart-wrenching performance of her single “When The Party’s Over.” The singer sang alongside her brother, breaking down at points in the song into tears but continuing to give a stunning vocal performance throughout.

Ariana performed a medley of four songs starting off with “Imagine.” The pop singer stood in front of an orchestra and pink lighting, giving strong notes and bringing emotion to her song. She then transitioned into a cover of “My Favourite Things,” which lead into her hit single,“7 Rings.”

The song also saw a change of outfit and location. Ditching the long dress, Grande went for a short pajama-like outfit matching the new bedroom set and background dancers.

Bringing the performance to a close was a tribute version of “Thank U, Next,” where the singer changed the lyrics to show appreciation to her father.

“Anyone” was a song written by Lovato before going into rehab, and the emotion was clear in her powerful performance of the ballad. The chorus’ notes soared, conveying the depth behind the simple lyrics perfectly.

New artist Rosalía took the stage in an all-white bodysuit complete with tassels and platform tennis shoes. The Spanish singer performed two songs, “Juro Que,” and a lively rendition of “Malamente.”

A quartet began this performance, giving a smooth rendition of “Earfquake” standing before a bonfire. From there Tyler brought energy to the stage as he performed “New Magic Wand” as the stage began to fill with dancers and light up with fire.

Lil Nas X laid on a couch as he played the familiar riff of “Old Town Road” beginning the most star-studded performance of the night. As the stage rotated another featured artist from the various remixes of the song would be revealed, starting with the world-wide famous boy band, BTS.

From there Mason Ramsey, better known as the yodeling kid from Walmart, appeared, and finally, a leather-clad Billy Ray Cyrus walked onto the stage guitar in hand. Afterward, Lil Nas X was joined on stage by Nas for the song “Rodeo,” a darker tune in comparison to the song before it, yet still just as enjoyable all the same.

The Grammys bring new and experienced artists together while sharing performances that thrill their audiences and celebrate the music industry.
